Catch-up on what we've been up to July 24th 2024 ====================================== I feel like too often my posts on gopher feel a little angst-posting because, well, I have a tendency to mostly post on here when I'm not posting over on fedi. I'd like to change that and use this like an actual public journal. So what have I been up to? Well I finished reading Computers as Theatre and wrote up a bunch of notes on it, which I promise I will actually turn into a shlog post on rawtext. I'm chewing on Ark of the Possible which is a really cool book that gets into applications of merleau-ponty's philosophy of the body to animal rights and ethics, dealing with issues of a generalized intersubjectivity that she calls "interanimality". I've been learning forth? That's not what I expected to be doing over the summer but it's been legitimately fun, a way of breaking out of feelings of boredom with programming. I definitely want to do The Thing other people have done and make a little forth fantasy computer for doing generative art and animation projects. I've been learning to draw, too, just pencil and paper. I used to do a lot of sketching and little cartoons in my journaling but I stopped like ten years ago and I want to get back into it so I'm going through Lynda Barry's Making Comics and also just following tutorials online in order to learn perspective like, for real, instead of just treating bad flatness as my style, mannnn. I've still been having trouble getting back into music. I think I've been too much pressure on myself on that one, putting such significance that I can't just improvise and play something for fun anymore. So, yeah, other than that we've been trying to go and do slightly more social things while dealing with the fact that there's a pretty rough covid spike here on the west coast right now. We've never stopped wearing masks indoors or in-crowds, so we've been doing alright through it. Anyway, so, yeah that's what I've been up to. Oh! And you can email me at left_adjoint@inconsistentuniverse.space so feel free if you want to talk about anything!
