23:49:17 - Browsing the """small internet""" (I don't like that term...), you tend to see a lot of Lain imagery if you go to certain places, so I decided to go ahead and rewatch it. I do remember enjoying it, although it was in the same way I enjoyed watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. Enjoying the artistry of the sounds, the imagery. Like a music video, kind of. If you don't know, Serial Experiments Lain is a surreal anime made in 1998. It's one of these media where it's tough to explain exactly what it's "about", but in the broadest sense it's about connections between people in the modern world. I don't wanna go too much on about this yet, especially since I've only rewatched the first and second episodes up to now, but even from that much it's easy to see why it's lingered in the cult space for so long. It's got style. It's the sort of thing that sticks in your mind long after you've finished watching it. I'll probably post more about it as I continue watching.
