00:10:31 - And it works! How fitting that this is done right as the new day comes. Goodbye, friday the 13th. And hello everyone. ___________________________ 13:28:58 - Nice day out today, and I'm inside feverishly learning lisp, for fun. I haven't had contact with this language previously but reading up on it, it apparently came up with a ton of stuff that modern langs happily stole en masse. It's powerful now, so I can only imagine what it was like when its competitors were things like C, fortran and perl. What power the lisp hackers must've yielded in their prime! ___________________________ 20:21:25 - A good, productive saturday. My mini-obsessions come in cycles, some more useful than others: this time around I'm going around optimizing my configs and regular programming tools. I'm also trying a task tracker. I'm getting older, so I'll probably start needing it soon. Some feel guilty when they find that they can't "stick" to something, but it can be liberating to recognize this fact and learn to roll with the natural way your brain works to some degree. I draw, write, read and program in these few-months-long cycles, and although it does make it unlikely I'll ever finish a significant personal project in a reasonable timeframe, I've made my peace with that: trying to fight against my flighty impulses might work or it might not, but it certainly would be a whole lot of effort for uncertain gain.
