I've mentioned before my love for old-time radio (OTR) [0]. I like to fall asleep to OTR most nights, and have found it helps with the kind of insomnia where your brain is in overdrive thinking about life crap, by (presumably) giving you something else emotionally neutral to concentrate on. At least it works for me. There are quite a few streaming OTR sites, here are some I like: ## Antioch old-time radio (ABN) [1] Streams all different genres 24x7, trying to play shows from the same month and day they were aired. There is a full schedule and an old-OS friendly, no-ssl streaming option [2]. ## Conyer's Old Time Radio [3] Another 24x7 streaming service. This seems to use the same software as ABN, above, and also has a nice schedule that shows what is, has or will be playing within 2 days. Has a no-ssl stream [4], and there is a separate streaming channel for holiday-specific shows [5]. ## Old Time Radio [6] This is my favorite, because it allows you to choose what genre you want to listen to, and you can craft your own OTR 'station', choosing which shows to play. The source code is even available at github [7], and since the backend is fed by archive.org's huge OTR library, you could run your own instance if this one ever goes down. ## Relic Radio [8] They have a bunch of nice OTR podcasts, if you prefer that. But they also have a stream [9] (or no-ssl [10]). It's not as nice as the other sites, as the streaming playlist runs about 8 hours and repeats, also there is no schedule (but you can see what was played recently to get an idea of the kinds of shows, they cross all genres). Most OTR shows run for 25-30 minutes, and sometimes the original ads or news briefs are included in the recordings, which I find interesting from a historical perspective (although the cigarette ads get old after a while in some of the more popular shows like Dragnet, Gunsmoke or Jack Benny).
