From: acresearch Date: 27-FEB-2019 Title: Can't Sleep ___________________ Today I had a very long day (and I enjoy having long busy days). It started with me waking up at 6:00 to go to the university for my morning lecture at 8:00, progress with these students is slow, not that they are not interested or having difficulty understanding the material, but for some reason I find myself moving slowly through the topics. But that is ok, I will finish up with them in time for the finals without pressuring them. I have been teaching for years. I had several hours before I see the same students again, so I started finishing up bureaucratic work. I then had to prepare some science communication material and saw the students again for their lab, which I used the time to finish up the morning's lecture instead. By this time I have been at the university for several hours and managed to finish up all the measly work for the rest of the week. But I still have several papers to write, which I have been putting off because I can't seem to get any time for myself to clear my mind. Tomorrow I have a totally free day, and I plan to start work on one paper, but I know I will probably just spend the whole day lazing arround with no energy to press a key stroke on the computer (but more than enough energy to watch YouTube all day). Now after a very long and productive day, I should be tired and sleepy, right? NOPE its 1:50 and I am wide awake, even after a heavy dinner meal. I have been looking for these cells for several months now, I secured a nice little grant fund, but I can't seem to move through the project because i can't find anyone on this globe to send me permanent microscope slides of these cells. I will most likely have to order them alive which I prefer not to since they might die en rout (especially where I live mail takes ages to arrive), and then I lose money from the grant AND the cells. But I probably will end up sucking it and ordering live cells. I did research protocols now how to prepare permanent slides so we will see how this goes. Today I sent off several requests for quotations, I haven't heard back. I apologise for having gramatical and spelling mistakes, I am writing this on a terminal using VIM, and I am just too lazy to proof read it and get it spell checked, English is not my first language, I am going to write what every I want and leave it as is (this applies to all my blog posts). Furthermore, I am posting this on Gopher, I don't think anyone will find it. What an amazing icozy corner to hide in.
