!Rain --- agk's diary 30 October 2023 @ 05:19 UTC --- written on Pinephone in a house with running water and electricity, high-speed internet, and plenty of food --- It's been unseasonably warm. First daughter picked and ate a tomato from our plants that'll be killed by frost this week. She played in the creek among fallen leaves. Headlamp on her bike helmet, she walked in a wild cave with me. With siege & explosive power equivalent to the bomb my country dropped on Hiroshima, Israel killed more children in 3 weeks than all conflicts--including in Ukraine, Yemen, & Tigray--killed in 4 years. My country flies in more bombs & missiles daily, vetoed 4 ceasefires supported by nearly all governments & most of our citizens. Maybe Hezbollah can stop this holocaust. Rain fell where I live, alleviating the drought a little. Roundstone River still ends abruptly at the sinks, its downstream bed a dry highway of pebbles & sand. I lay awake, listened to rain drum on the tent. No drones buzzed, no explosions lit the night sky. First daughter slept beautifully, alive & un- troubled, on sheepskin next to me.
