# ATGATT - alfred's Gemlog


ATGATT is an initialism used in motorcycling, and it means "All The Gear, All The Time". It means whether the ride is to be short or long, you put on all your riding gear: helmet, gloves, riding jacket, over-the-ankle boots, and riding pants too (not denim jeans, which do not last long in a slide). It's a hassle, but if you ride often enough, it will save your skin someday. It did mine, once, and I walked away from a crash with only my ego bruised. All my protective gear (except my helmet, ironically) was needed in that incident.
