# Guitar Lessons - alfred's Gemlog


Although taking in-person guitar lessons is probably the fastest route to proficiency, I never liked them as much as group lessons. With group lessons, there's usually some camaraderie among fellow students, and sharing gallows humor with peers helps to calm nerves and manage expectations. My first group guitar class was offered by a community college. That their "Group Guitar Class" was for classical guitar surprised many of us, because that detail wasn't in the course description!  

After that class, I took individual lessons for awhile, then joined an online course (delcampclassicalguitar.com) for a few years, eventually serving as a moderator.
