# The Tiny House of Computers is Now a Starter Home - alfred's Gemini capsule


I found the Raspberry Pi appealing because of its low cost, compact form, and educational purpose. I had used Linux before, but the Pi required more engagement on my part. It forced me to explore and learn about networking and refresh my command line skills. Eventually, I decided it was an ideal backup computer - inexpensive and unobtrusive, but if my desktop PC failed, it was just good enough to get me online so I could order a new one. But what was once a just a "lifeboat" PC now performs so well that it may be a worthy successor.
