# Desktop vs. Laptop - alfred's Gemini capsule


Apart from gamers, who still uses desktop computers? 

I'd guess: not many. I still prefer them though, because they're more practical for adding your preferred keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor. They also have more ports for such peripherals and external devices (like scanners, printers, external drives, phones, and cameras). 

Desktops are unsuitable for travel, but laptops can easily be dropped, lost, or stolen. Replacement batteries can be hard or impossible to find, making them nearly disposable computers.

Raspberry Pi now fills the role that my old laptop did. It's highly modular. However, I must admit that cable management is inelegant.
