# The MSF Basic RiderCourse - alfred's Gemini capsule In 2000, I was considering becoming a motorcyclist. I hadn't purchased a motorcycle yet, nor any protective gear. I wanted to minimize my odds of injury or death, so I decided that taking the MSF Basic RiderCourse should be my first step. [I think that passing it also provided a waiver for state DMV testing.] It was challenging - the instructors were strict, and the August heat was oppressive. But I learned a great deal about defensive riding, and those lessons made me a better car driver, too. As best I can recall, I've not been in an accident since. => gemlog.gmi Back to Gemlog contents Last edited: 2025-09-22
