When I first started creating cyber decks, 20 years ago, it was a dark art. It seemed many people were creating and hacking in their own spaces, maybe driven by an urge to create something that was personal to them. For myself, computers were a way for me to connect with my own creativity in a way that was very unbounded. I watched the world web bring all these centres of creativity together and the hacking community now is much more than I would have envisioned 20 years past. Similarly I am also surprised by how much capitalism has exploited technological innovation to push consumer electronics over the last two decades. I saw it happening but did not predict the extent it would grow to. Now the art, or craft, of cyber decks is an even more important one to encourage. It is important to experiment and express ourselves in times such as these.
