22 Jul 2025 ------------ The Parting Glass The first song is "The Parting Glass". A very beautiful song about friends and departure. Just like many other folk songs, Irish and Scottish, or Celtic some may say, tunes and songs are passed down in many shapes or forms, but mainly by ear. I believe we have already lost trace of this song's origin, but it is sung by many different people, in many different occasions. The magical part about Irish and Scottish music is that, although the melody is very well known, with the right arrangement and of course, instruments, the song can give out a completely different feel and emotion. I especially like the arrangement by Karine Polwart and Dave Milligan. The beautiful and crispy sound of the piano, blended perfectly with Karine's voice, colours the song subtly with sadness but also fullness in the heart. They praise the strong bond between the friends, the happy moments they spent together, and the acceptance of inevitabe departure. Finish the last glass and say farewell, in a peace and quiet night. Wish everyone great and treasurable moments with your loved ones. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
