My Computers - 15 Febuary 2018 -------------------------------- I'm a little late to this topic, but I wanted to make a list of the computers I owned, and also talk about a dock that I recently started trying out. I only own a single desktop, a thinkcentre M91, but I have many laptops. The M91 has an intel i5 and is dual booted with debian and windows (yuck). I really only keep windows around for a few video games, although I havent played any PC games lately. I also have a raspberry pi 3b that is currently sitting in a drawer collecting dust, but I guess one could consider that a desktop computer as well. I still have the first laptop that I ever got. It is a dell inspirion 7500 that was given to me by my grandfather for my tenth birthday. That thing is a behemoth, It is about an inch thick and weighs 12 pounds. As an indication of how large this thing is compared to modern computers, it uses a full five and a half inch desktop hard drive. Many of the keys are missing and I don't have the charger anymore, which is a shame; I would have loved to throw a *nix on it and used it for notes in one of my classes just for laughs. Then there is the acer aspire one netbook that I never use. It works great even though it's a decade old and can even render youtube videos (albeit at 360p). I love how small and well built this computer is but the thing gets really hot and the battery only lasts about an hour and a half. My grandfather bought me a hp envy 360 with an i5 proccesor two years ago for college, but I also rarely use this one. Currently it is running arch linux. My mother's friend gave me a thinkpad T61 that she found after she bought an expired self storage unit. It's running mangaro with i3 and although it is perfectly functional it has been replaced by my X200 which is better in almost every way. The laptop that I mainly use is a thinkpad x200. It has an intel core 2 duo, 8gb of ram, a 120gb ssd, and is librebooted. I think my favorite thing about this computer is that there is no touchpad, you only use a touch point (aka nipple mouse). When I bought the x200 it came with a dock, but only yesterday have I actually used it. The dock is really cool, you can hook up all kinds of IO like mice, keyboards, monitors, et cetera. The laptop just plops right into the dock and connects the peripherals instantly. I'm thinking about using my x200 as a laptop and as a desktop by using the dock, and then maybe I could let my family use my desktop as a shared computer. I really like the idea of only having a single computer that operates as both a desktop and a laptop. I wouldn't need any fancy syncing solutions and I could be more minimal technology wise. And If I did give the M91 to the family, then I would still have a backup computer to use. --Auzymoto
