date: Mon 02 Mar 2026 08:52:31 PM PST subj: vacation in the sun never return rambling ----------------------------------------------- I live in the PWN, and a lot of the year there isn't a lot of sunshine. It also is cold and rainy a decent amount of the year. Then it stays dark, or the sun is actually not up that long, specifically when going to work inside, then returning from work. This means nobody there gets much vitamin D during most of the year. I often wonder what the heck people are doing living in the PNW given these conditions. These conditions make for people who are not really very friendly. Many years ago I was friendly when I first moved to the PNW, but now I'm just like the other mossbacks, well maybe a bit more friendly, than others, but a lot less than I was when I first migrated to PNW. I took a vacation to AZ. In AZ near Pheonix there is a lot of sunshine, its very warm by comparison to the PNW this time of year (late FEB early MAR). I feel healthier after being in the sunshine for a few days, all except my burnt skin. I think after being out of the sun for so long my skin has little tolerance for sunshine exposure for long durations. I wonder if vacation is the source of my good constitution or just not being at work. I realize work cause me to sit in doors all day long, which could be a contributor to not feeling as healthy compared to being on vacation, but even when I'm not working in the PNW I haven't really felt as healthy and happier compared with being on vacation in a sunnier area. My HRV is well within the green even past the mid point, and it hasn't been this way in many months now. My RHR 7 day average is 47. Some days its been low 40's. Aw the things we do for money kill us, and the negative health effects of not having money to buy health is just as bad, there seems no dang escape. I don't want to go back right now, I just want to be on vacation in a sunny area. For those who live in really sunny areas, I wonder if they've felt worse or better when on vacation in a place where the climate is more like the PNW.
