subj: sister out of hospital

I got a call from my sister's boyfriend today just as I was
going to get in the shower. He said my sister is out of the
hospital. She is doing OK but no answers as to what the cause of
her issues are. He thinks she said what she needed to say to get
released. She still her's other people's thoughts but she says
some of the voices in her head are gone. 


Later around 6PM she called me. She sounds a lot better than she
did about a week ago, but I can tell she is struggling with her
memory and words. She talked a bit about her cat, told me she
went grocery shopping with her boyfriend. She said she enjoyed
that, and they are getting to know each other again. I things
work out between them. Right now he is taking care of her
medicine. 

My sister described a dream she had about our late stepfather.
She remembered the dream was before the surgery. They she talked
about how things don't last, and how she has too many things to
do to remember all of them, and that she forgets to some things.
(its like after the surgery her brain is 20 years older). 

When she started describing how her hair has grown a lot and her
eyelashes have grown more she thought that was weird and won't
last. Her eyelashes grew because she cried so much. Her telling
me these things my heart sinks, because the correlation between
these things are not how my sister used to think. I can hear
cognitive issues in her descriptions. I only pray her cognitive
function returns. For me I think if you haven't looked in the
mirror for a week or two you might now have realized how much
your hair grew. I don't know why her eyelashes and hair won't
last. Maybe she is thinking so far down the road she sees
herself aging. :( it happens to all of us who live to be old. 


I can only hope things continue to improve.
