I think I have come to a wacky solution for feeds over gopher. Just include the full content in the feed and host the feed on https. No, I don't like that, but it's a concession to practicalities and "real life". Let me explain. 1) There are very few feed readers that will work nice with a feed over gopher. Many developers have but forgotten our beloved protocol. Believing it to be dead they don't provide for it, or... whatever, it doesn't matter the end result is the same, no support. 2) There are not so many people using feed readers, which is a shame, but still, that's life. 3) There are fewer people still using gopher. So these three constrains make the intersection of the set of users of any given gopherspace quite a small one. On the other hand, hosting the thing in https -in this case a website of mine- means that you can simply copy and paste the feed url into your feed reader and presto! What's more, I can publicize it online and for the, admiteddly, small number of people who would subscribe, it will be a familiar experience. The good part, however, is that the people who subscribe to feeds these days are tech lovers, potential gopher fans, if they only have the chance. So my little feed, your big feed could be an entry point. How nice! Anyway, those are my reasons. I want to add some some basic instructions on how I did my atom feed. It's not that hard but I found the format slightly confusing when I started so I hope to be able to save that trouble to somebody. No promises, but it could be done this week. Remember to read the docs, you can do anything if you read the docs!
