# Solo: Beyond the Pale (3) => ../../../static/solo-byt-licence.gmi Licence info Kest is a small village. Compared with Greykeep it is a dot on the map. To the North I can see the mountains, an unappealing route, and to the East is the Blue Forest. I'm not much of a trapper but at a push I can hide out there. Here's hoping I can rely on a cousin's loyalty for a small room for a time.  The buildings are of wood and number no more than fifty. I would say that it looks like Kest has fallen on hard times, but it seems more that there were never any good times. Still, there's enough excess to have a group gathered building some form of effigy. It's made to look like two trees, with branches growing together. Looks like I've arrived during a festival time. That might provide some cover. > The first roll! I'll ask the oracle if anyone takes notice of Berek and speaks to him. I'll say it's 50/50, so I'm rolling a d100 and checking if it is 50 or less for a Yes. 47. > Next, who approaches? The module has a nicely laid out list of characters. I'll roll on that and reroll if the result is someone who is otherwise occupied at this point in the timeline. I've rolled Kivyer the Shamash. > Kivyer is (among other things) involved in distilling brandy from shatterfruit. I think he sees the tin and pliers hanging from Berek's pack and clocks him as a kettlewright. Kivyer might need some of his equipment repaired so approaches Berek. "Hello there traveller!" a lanky man calls. He reeks of alcohol, though his eyes are sharp. He asks if I'm a kettlewright, come to work for the Holz Company. Of course I am - the easiest lies are the ones others tell for you. He is skittish, seems distracted. I glean that his name is Kivyer and he assists the Rebbe with ritual matters. He also makes brandy and his still needs some minor repair, if I can be pulled away from Holz for a time. "Hard to say. They drive us hard. So much to do," I say. > Oracle: does Kivyer volunteer any views on the Holz Company? I'll say it's 50/50. 12. Yes, he shares something. He's quick to take the opportunity to criticise the Company. It seems the Rebbe opposed their arrival in town but someone called Ayal won the argument. There's bitterness there. I promise to look for Kivyer at his home - a shack to the South - if I get a free moment. He points me to the Holz Company office (I didn't ask for those directions) and I bid him farewell. => ../../../tags/rpg.gmi tag: rpg => ../../../tags/solo-actual-play.gmi tag: solo-actual-play => ../../../index.gmi home
