# Solo: Beyond the Pale (5) => ../../../static/solo-byt-licence.gmi Licence info Karl is missing. Cousin Ella hasn't time to tell me much, but he went out for a job yesterday and didn't return. I know that Karl drinks, so there's a chance he hit the bottle and is sleeping it off somewhere. But Ella is worried like I haven't seen before. I offer to search for Karl. She would join me except that she's keeping the tavern running alone. Yesterday morning Karl told her he had a job from Frank Bronfman, woodworking at his home at the edge of the Blue Forest. I have a quick meal and then prepare to go. I glance around the tavern looking for a local with a decent head on their shoulders. I don't know exactly what I'm getting into, and an extra set of eyes and an arm to swing a club might fit the bill.  > I'll roll the die of fate (d6) to see if Berek finds good options for hirelings among the patrons. I rolled a 1. I'll interpret this as being there is only one likely candidate. Either they'll drive a hard bargain for pay (3 or under), or is less capable than Berek would hope for (4 or higher). I'll roll again to determine which. I got a 6. Normally you roll 3d6 for attributes for a hireling. I'll roll 3d4 to lower their scores.  > Hireling details: str 6 dex 9 wil 10. Hp 2. Local guide (5gp per day). Gear: fishing rod. Sewing kit. Dagger (d6). 8 gold pieces. Scrawny physique. Stuttering speech. Filthy clothing. Virtue is humble. Vice is nervous. Name: Griya (he/him). "I'm new to the area, looking for a guide to bring me to the Bronfnam place. Do you know it?" I ask the only patron who seems promising. A scrawny fellow but he might have some skills. He looks surprised that I approached, trips over his words a little, and eventually gets a reply out: "I know the place. It's not a hard journey, you're sure you need a guide?" "I'm a cautious fellow. 5 groschen for the day. What do you say?" His eyes light up at the pay. I probably could have hired him for half that, but hey, I'm a little flush at the moment (part of the reason I'm laying low - the other part is who is looking for that gold). "I'm Griya. I'll have you out to Bronfman's right away. After that I can take you to First Light - as fine a light house as you ever saw. Great view over the ocean!" Griya stutters with excitement. "I may take you up on that," I smile and shake his hand. => ../../../tags/rpg.gmi tag: rpg => ../../../tags/solo-actual-play.gmi tag: solo-actual-play => ../../../index.gmi home
