flying chihuahuas june 24th, 2000 i'm falling in love with my daughter again. i've spent the entire evening from the time i returned from matthew's until now doing nothing but watching and playing with my daughter - children seem to achieve these different milestones where everything clicks inside of them. lights are shed on different sections of their brain, and they aquire mass amounts of knowledge all at once. it's amazing. she understands and can communicate to a degree now, and that is entirely fascinating. she'll open books and blabber in baby talk pretending to read them. i told her "no" when she went to pull on the keyboard and she listened. she spent two hours playing a game where she would have us throw this stuffed chihuahua across the room and she would retrieve it and bring it back to us...(i knew you could teach dogs to fetch, but to teach children to fetch dogs?) it's just been an amazing night. icing on the cake of an amazing day spent playing outside in the grass with my daughter and the mattyboy. among other things. it's been a pretty wonderful week. a week of shedding fears and being spontaneous and seeing people i have missed a great deal, a week of work and accomplishment and revelation. and as much as i would like to share my adventures with you, my daughter i believe is finally deciding to call it a night, so i need to go get her ready for bed. motherhood is one of those magical treasures about being a woman that i am infinitely grateful i was blessed with.
