The first day of using castor oil turned into a full fledged detox. I'm now on day 2 It all started with a feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I took a table spoon of castor oil, a lot of water, and ate chia seed and blueberry for breakfast. I then didn't want to each too much as the castor oil was doing its job. So I decided to make a cauliflower curry. Very simple: CAULIFLOWER CURRY - 1 onion - 1 head of cauliflower - 1 can of coco milk - 1 table spoon of green curry - 1 cup of broth (I had elk broth) - Butter, oil, salt, pepper Chop the onion, for a curry it doesn't need to be minced. With olive oil and butter melted in the pan, I brown the onions slowly. This is what will give a lot of the flavor so it needs to be done nicely. Cutting the onion in small pieces that are all the same size really matter when you want to cook them perfectly. If there are small bits they will burn, while the bigger piece won't cook as much. Once the opinion as a prefect golden color, the sweetness comes out. I put the chopped cauliflower in there, to roast them a bit. Then I pour the elk broth on top, for the sweetness of the onion, and the taste of the broth to combine and infuse the cauliflower. I let this boil for a bit, then I finally add the coco milk, then the curry. I add a bit of sweetener sometime. ... I was reading about using castor oil and they suggested not to eat raw, or hard to digest food, or too spicy of a food. I still went with the curry. I learned a bit later why this wasn't a good idea. In the evening, I drank some Yerba Buena tea, a wild plant a friend of mine brought over. I realize how that could be the start of a cleanse. I got excited about it and thought about all the things I could do during that time. A Pancha Karma is normally 5 days or longer. Since I started on Thursday, I could do 4 days at least. SMUDGING I decided to smudge the house to get started: - Dried tobacco leaves - Copal in powder - Palo Santo I used a charcoal brick to hold the mix, and smudge the whole house. It was quite needed after all the last month happenings. Smudging helps change the energy of a place. It changes the smell, which change our relationship to an environment. It's also a practice of being aware for a moment, and having the intention of changing the energy of a room or a house. The awareness and intention alone changes my own interaction with my surrounding. I take care of my home, so that my home takes care of me in return. ... CEDAR BATH Then for my body, I decided on a cedar bath. I went to ask a tree for a few branches, I made a fire in the wood stove and boiled cedar for a few hours. I added that to a warm bath. Cedar oil, coming out of the branches have a strong effect on my body. It also cleanse the air in the room as the boiling fill the house. I was taught to use cedar bath anytime you do a ceremony, to cleanse the mind and body before and after. ... I wanted all these other thing, like Epson salt, some other food, as well as incense and other substances. But that would require me to leave the house, and I though it would be better to stay home, partly because I also had to run to the toilet on a regular basis. (that's the effect of castor oil if you didn't know) So I wanted to use only what I have at home. Although I don't have a lot of veggies, I do have a lot of beans, frozen blueberries, chia seeds. My diet consist of: - A lot of water (with a pinch of salt) - Some apple cider vinegar - Table spoon of castor oil - Green tea - Match tea (not yet open) - Split pea - Broth - Lentil, white beans... The practices I decided to do: - Self Massage - Yoga - Reflection - Meditation - Music I even tried to watch some YouTube but I wasn't interested. The detox mode made me want to do other thing, drawing, playing music or writing. The self massage has been quite helpful in feeling bloated. I use the same castor oil for massage with stones. The stone helps pressing deeper in my stomach area, as well as cooling. PLANT MEDICINE This is a perfect setup for moving from the cleanse to a small ceremony. I have a few medicinal plant with me, coca, amanita, hongos, huachuma. I might have a tea tonight and see what the medicine brings to me. I am not sure yet. SPLIT PEA SOUP - 1 onion - 1 cup of split peas - 1/4 cup of broth This is as simple as it gets. It's really easy to digest and takes about 1.5 hours to cook, and it takes pretty good! Prepare the onions like in the curry. Again this will be foundational to the task of the soup. I then cook the split peas with the onions for a bit, before I put the broth in. Since the peas needs 1.5 hours to cook, I added water a few times. During the detox, a lot of the toxin comes out of the mouth, it's important to clean PULLING Using some coco butter, the solidified oil of coconut, a table spoon in my mouth, I swish this around for about 20 minutes. (While the pea soup is cooking!) Once this is done, I spit it out, and then clean my tongue with a spoon. A lot of the toxin seems to come out of the tongue as well. I make sure to rinse well my mouth. YOGA I don't do intense yoga practice as my energy is quite low. I focus on twist which helps my bowel movement. Twists are also good to remove the toxins from the internal organs. I also focus on movement that drain my lymphatic system, which goes like this: Back of the knees Groin area Arm pits Neck and Jaws SLEEP As the body is pushed into an imbalance, it's important to rest well, sleep well and take a few bath or shower to keep the body heat. Since the food I eat is very minimal, and my body is purging, I have very little energy. I've had crazy dream all night. One of which I had sex with my ex wife. It's the first time I dream of her since the separation. Although I find it weird that I dreamt of that, I notice that the dream wasn't filled with emotions, anger, or even desire. This seems to indicate a new phase in my relationship. I don't desire nor despise her.
