It takes me about 20 minutes to program a 24 hour day for MixRemix Radio. As it gets habitual I may be able to cut that back a little bit but there is work involved.

Of course the real work is adding more music into the station library. Recommendations are appreciated for music licensed Creative Commons especially Free Culture licenses (CC BY, CC BY-SA, and CC0 (public domain)) and for concerts on the Live Music Archive at archive.org.

Every station needs a theme and that's the basic idea behind MixRemix Radio. 

Listen to Free Culture Mix and what you hear you can use in your projects. 

Then six hrs of curated shows from the Live Music archive, Delta Boogie Radio, LMAJazz, and KGPL for Deadheads.

Hairy Larry Uploads is two hours of full concerts I recorded and uploaded to the Live Music Archive.

Creative Commons Remix also includes music with the more restrictive NC and ND licenses but still all free to download and reuse within the terms of the licenses.

At 10:00 pm CST you can hear one Something Blue show each night. I play a lot of live concerts and Creative Commons music on Something Blue but you will also hear some commercial music here. Listen anytime at http://sbblues.com.

And you ask how I can program all that in 20 minutes? I use the power of serendipity unleashed by manipulating text files from the linux command line to build a 24 hour .m3u playlist. Yep, I shuf and sed and cp and wget along with Thunar, gedit, and bash scripts to turn my always growing library into another Icecast day. Sometimes it pays to be a command line geek.
