New Jazz in Jonesboro

A monthly jazz program featuring a house band and guests.

1st Friday or Saturday. 8:00 – 10:00

House band working name – NJHB

Our repertoire will be all original charts. Unlike Jazz Thursday we will not be reading fakebook standards. All band members and guests will be encouraged to bring in original songs.

We will draw on all schools of jazz including blues, swing, bebop, hard bop, post bop, avant garde, free jazz, fusion.

We will be:

improvisational
experimental
exploratory
high energy
acoustic (horns not amplified)
intense
different
weird
fun

I will record all shows. We will livestream once we are all comfortable with our sound.

My goal for the New Jazz in Jonesboro program is to present jazz music that wasn't written 50 years ago.

My short term goal for NJHB is to develop a sound and repertoire so we can play Bebopalooza! In April.
