Something Blue - Intrepid John_Mullins_Band-The_Phantasy_June_26_1998-d1t06_Bad_Platypus.wav Welcome to Something Blue. I'm Hairy Larry and I've got the Blues, for you. John_Mullins_Band-The_Phantasy_June_26_1998-d1t12_Heavens_To_Mergatroid.wav Oh yeah, The John Mullins Band says "Heavens To Mergatroid" recorded live at The Phantasy on June 26, 1998. John Mullins plays Blues and Rock and he delivers his material in a voice that Bluesmen describe as gravelly. Kicking us off they played "Bad Platypus". John Mullins is from Columbus, Ohio and he used to play in Ekoostic Hookah. Columbus is a hip Blues town. I had a great time there one night playing at a Blues jam that my niece took me to. There were a lot of great musicians there including a Blues fiddler that tore the house up. You're listening to Something Blue on KASU, the home of the blues every Saturday night. Here's John Mullins now singing a sixties song that's kind of personal to me, "Almost Cut My Hair". John_Mullins_Band-The_Phantasy_June_26_1998-d2t11_Almost_Cut_My_Hair.wav All right now it's the John Mullins Band doing a David Crosby song, "Almost Cut My Hair". Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young were a top act in the sixties and they've enjoyed a resurgence recently. Good music never dies. Global Funk is a Northern California Jam Band that jams Funk, Blues, and Soul all together. I want to thank the Live Music Archive at archive.org for hosting the songs I'm playing tonight. For more great live music go to archive.org and type John Mullins, Global Funk, or Hairy Larry into the search box. This Global Funk concert was recorded at the Bean Scene on February 12, 2004. Now here's an instrumental from Global Funk. It's appropriately named. They call it "Groovebagg". Recorded live on June 26, 2008. There's no music better than live music. Now here's Global Funk playing "New Century Suite". Global_Funk-Bean_Scene_February_12_2004-d2t4_New_Century_Suite_2nd_Part.wav All right. It's Global Funk live. Great music and it's live too. You're listening to Something Blue on KASU.
