Something Blue - Shake Stomp 05_The_Man_In_Me.wav Welcome to Something Blue. I'm Hairy Larry and I've got the Blues, for you. 07_Pipeline.wav 08_Where_Is_My_Mind.wav All right now, we're listening to one of Jonesboro's hottest bands, Plain Meanness, recorded live at KASU's Blue Monday at the Red Goose Restaurant in Paragould, Arkansas, on October 17, 2011. We heard "The Man In Me", "Pipeline", and "Where Is My Mind". This four piece band includes Patrick Dailey, guitar; Derek Doyle, upright bass; Greg Arnold, drums; and Corey Emerson, horns. They all sing. Now here they are again playing "Brand New Cadillac". 10_Brand_New_Cadillac.wav 12_Yellow_Eyes_And_Strychnine.wav And that's one from the new Plain Meanness CD, The Sower and the Reaper, called "Yellow Eyes and Strychnine". The Something Blue website is at sbblues.com where you can listen to podcasts of the show any time. And you can find out more about Plain Meanness at plainmeanness.com. They're a great band. They play a wide variety of music, and all I can say to anyone who says local bands aren't as good is you haven't heard Plain Meanness. Coming up next it's a Jimbo Maltus song, "The Ghost Of Stephen Foster". Then we'll hear "Way Down In The Hole" and "Run Chicken Run". 14_The_Ghost_Of_Stephen_Foster.wav 16_Way_Down_In_The_Hole.wav 20_Run_Chicken_Run.wav ----- 18_Lets_Stay_Together.wav 24_Tracks.wav Now that's what I'm talking about, it's the guitar work of Patrick Dailey on "Tracks", another song from the Plain Meanness CD. Before that we heard Corey Emerson sing the Al Green classic, "Let's Stay Together". Now that's the Blues. Now here's another song from The Sower and the Reaper CD. One called "I've Got My Suitcase Packed Tonight". 26_Ive_Got_My_Suitcase_Packed_Tonight.wav 30_Shake_And_Stomp.wav And that's Plain Meanness showing us all how to "Shake And Stomp". They were rocking the Red Goose. They did everything from Eastern European folk music to Dylan and The Dead. Here they are with a train song, "Casey Jones". 34_Casey_Jones.wav 38_Precious_And_Grace.wav Oh yeah, It's Plain Meanness doing ZZ Top's "Precious And Grace". I've got two more songs for you tonight. The Beatles' "Helter Skelter" and Dick Dale & the Del-Tones' "Miserlou". Give it up for them. Plain Meanness. 40_Helter_Skelter.wav 41_Helter_Skelter_tag_end.wav 42_Miserlou.wav
