## 34 Minimalism September is always a busy month. I have more work at my job, of course, and because it's a new job, I used August to prepare for it. I'm behind on many things from my previous job that I'm still doing. But there's also a lot to do at home, what with illness, the garden and family issues. That's life. I need more time and I need to avoid some useless distractions. The first thing that seems useless to me is social networks. I'm only maintaining a small presence for the animal shelter association. Bluesky and Fediverse are useless for that. I don't need technology or political intelligence through them. There's too much information with RSS feeds now. I'm cutting off the branch I'm sitting on! Fewer RSS feeds and no social networks for weeks. I might occasionally share a link with a comment, but that's it. Who needs my advice on anything or to know about my life? Nobody, and when I look at the feed, I find it very disappointing and sometimes boring. Many people are changing in this time of political disorder (in France, the USA and the rest of the world). Everything is becoming more extreme. I am too if I don't care. The parties I support are doing whatever they want. I don't have the energy to waste at the moment. Energy is my goal. My body is not the same as it was 10 or 15 years ago. I have enough energy to do my job, but I'm not able to recover as quickly. Speaking of energy, I also need to make sure I have enough battery life on my smartphone. I wrote about Android launchers on the French minimalism blog. I know it makes some of my contacts laugh because they don't want to change their habits. I like change, and I realized that I only use 10 apps on my smartphone. There are 89 apps on my phone and many of them are only used once or twice a month, or even once a year. Other apps don't need a shortcut because they run in the background (VPN, firewall, etc.). So my screen has only five groups of icons and ten apps. It's very easy to use with one hand and one finger (it's a 5.5" screen). I'm still trying to reduce this number further by uninstalling anything that isn't useful. After that, I'll be able to update my favorite apps. And I could also talk about kitchen tools that don't need much energy. A balance, a chopper for example....Solar energy or human energy are still very useful. But I don't have any solutions for oven, electric hotplate, stove... Except using wood but that's another big problem, with particles. And I'm still using my energy to complete the database of uvlist.net...that made me discover some game platforms I didn't know. That's another story. 2DÉ› => mailto:icemanfr@sdf.org Comments by mail or by a reply on your blog
