## 13 Mouse

For several weeks, I had a mouse in the basement. At first, I didn't know what it was exactly. Just one or two rodents because some of the bags of cat food and other groceries were pierced by bites. Then I found some black droppings. Of course, as a vegan, I can't kill those small animals.

We had to protect everything and to put all the food in closed boxes. I found many ripped-open bags and pouches. I had to clean all the basement and I found traces of new explorations of the rodents. They had no food and one day, the soap next to the sink had been eaten ! I managed to find the cat trap used for capturing stray cats for the association. I had seen one of the rodents, and it was probably the same size than a mouse found dead in the garden several months ago. The trap was OK and able to trap a very small animal. 

Just one night with a small amount of food inside and the mouse was trapped inside early in the morning. A beautiful gray mouse. I released it far away at the other end of the garden...and I heard one of the stray cats of the neighborhood running after it. The cat missed it. It was the first time in 15 years here that I found a rodent in the house. I only saw rats next to the garbage cans of a poorly maintained building. We are not in Paris, ah, ah. During this winter, very few birds were eating grains. There are many cats, well fed by us. I don't know how the mouse found this paradise but I hope we will be able to live together. Humans are also responsible for all that with all the food we are throwing away. I will keep the trap open...I don't really know how many mice there were. For the moment, not more than one.
