What's up y'all! I have no idea what happened to the electrolytics that I ordered like a year and a half ago, so I've just reordered everything on Mouser for now (including 100 diodes which will be useful for wiring up the keyboard later). I've also gone ahead and ordered a GBS-8100 board, which should convert VGA to a working CGA signal. I return from Japan next month, so hopefully I can start work on it not long after I get back! I *do* need a soldering station, so I'll probably end up ordering a cheap one off of eBay around the time I go back home. For now I'm probably just going to set up the terminal with a Raspberry Pi inside and call it a living machine, although I *would* like to eventually actually turn it into a working serial terminal, because I'm also wanting to build an Altair 8800c[0] next year! I've actually already gone on and ordered two TEAC FD-55GFR 5.25" drives, and I'm hoping to see if maybe Protocase will aid me financially (since they do student discounts[1]) in getting an enclosure made for them, sized to sit on top of the Altair. That's all tenative for now though. Anyway, sorry for the radio silence on this project - especially to those who helped me out by sending in donations! Hopefully I'll make some real progress soon, once I get back to the States. That's all for now! See ya'!
