PostScript Printer ================== Just a short post today. I needed to print a paper document. Our printer is the networked one but I had it set up only for the Blackbird (which have been out of service for a while). I never find working combination of drivers and printer on my wife's Ubuntu machine. I haven't a proper printer setup on the MNT Pocket Reform because it's a portable device with Debian (a system close to Ubuntu) . I actually never tried to do it here. OK, but I need to print one document. So I set up the printer on my SGI O2. The IP address, the type "generic Postscript" and... it have started to print! Yes, when I was buying that printer I was asking if its' a Postscript printer. So it is So I applied the trick to Debian/Ubuntu machines, too. No special super HP driver or other driver, no more decoding of printer name. IP address and Generic Postscript. Done. Well, I noticed that toner is almost empty (after years of use).
