MNT Pocket Reform repair ======================== My Pocket Reform was out of service from about September 2025 because it showed charging issues (it charged sometimes and sometimes not and it charged only to random level like 50%, 70% or even 5%, depending of its mood). While its not-so-great WiFi reception and its overheating in summer are things I can live with, the charge only up to 5% was way too much to me. So I gave up. The Charging Board V2 arrived this week so I tried to make the device work once again. The first thing I have done was finding and printing the new On/Off switch for the Pocket Reform. The switch is for setting the battery to on/off mode. This actually disconnects the battery from most of the device so this thing is useful for saving of battery and for resetting of stuff. The original design required to reach the switch through a narrow hole (not an easy task). At the Printables there are two designs of new side panel with a more comfortable switch. I selected the design [1] as it provided bigger switch but the [2] will probably work nicely, too. Then I have tried the new board and new batteries. I spend a day with these things. At the end I hae set up the new board with the old (original) batteries. I was unable to make new ones (a bigger ones with connectors I had to add to them) work with any of the boards (new board ignored them and the old did the same just with different errors). Maybe batteries were bad, maybe I damaged them someway when I attached the connectors. No idea. So at the moment it looks like I have a working MNT Pocket Reform once more. I will be able to say more after a few days. Written on the SGI O2.
