16 July 26 Thursday [written 17 July] today [yesterday] i finished my new 84hp wooden eurorack case. i had completed the basics yesterday [the day before yesterday], but i did a bunch of final touches today. i drilled holes in the side and then sanded to make an entry where i could install the power access module, so i don't have to let it take up space in my rack. i drilled ventilation holes in the top and in the back below the power bus board. i put a hinge on the back at the bottom, and added a little cord so that the back can hang open just so far. i also added cords for the larger case i finished a while back, which also has a back that swings open downwards. this is for ventilation and for access to the boards and cables. the back latches shut when not in use. there's also a little area inside at the bottom where i can store some small things, such as potentially the power block and cord. then i installed latches that can attach the new 3u case to the top of the existing case 9u case. i rearranged everything so that my touch synths are in the top, removable case, along with a digital sequencer, my guitar/instrument interface module, a filter, a multi-effects module, and an input/output module. so i can sit with these things separately when i don't want to be tied to my larger case, or take them outside, travel with them, whatever. but can also use them in tandem with the rest of the larger case when i want to. i made some modular recordings incorporating the Synthux touch synths. they're open source and have swappable instrument firmware. sometimes there's not much documentation for the controls, and there's a lot of secondary function stuff where you press x and y to do z, or press x and turn knob y, etc. so i'm learning things slowly. i printed out the portions of the 'read me' files for the controls that are available, which i've been meaning to do for a long time.
