19 July, 2026 Sunday there have been a lot of synchronicitis for me recently! i take this to be a sign i'm heading in the right direction, as i'm in the midst of big changes in my life. i suppose i should write about that tomorrow, as today has slipped away from me, and yesterday i said i would write about Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh's words about art. i have long felt that everything we do feeds into everything we do. so it makes sense inside of me when he says, "If I don't grow lettuce, I can't write poems." when i was in school for writing, i remember walking with a friend and classmate around a lake near where i lived. it was winter and the lake was frozen. for some reason this has always stuck with me...he was working on poetry project that was heavily steeped in bird imagery and mythos. i said to him, "i feel like i'm incubating." i felt like whatever i had to write, it was growing inside of me in every moment of my experience. another synchronicity just touched me, and this one i will share now. as i sit here writing this, i looked up the friend because i couldn't remember the name of the book of his in question. the first thing to come up was the academy of poets website, and he had one poem publishd there, one of their "Poem-a-Day" series--from this year, 2026. i would like to say more, but i need to eat something and go to bed. notes to self for other synchronicities to record: * pet rock * swan dive / license plate * mushroom / postal worker.
