4 April 26 Saturday working on the video art gear-case again. i have a little vintage aluminum boxy-briefcase i found some time ago at a thrift shop, that i've been wanting to turn into a case for the raspberry pis that run various open-source programs i use at times for video art, with midi controllers. they've been flailing around piecemeal and no matter how i've tried to organize them, they always seem to devolve into a ratking of rca/hdmi/power/usb cables. part of the problem is that i'm always trying to keep them aerated/lifted up off of surfaces for ventilation/heat dispersion. today i realized i can take a mesh wire office organizer tray i had around (also thrifted), turn it upside down, and it fits perfectly inside the aluminum case, with some spacing in places at the bottom. now the power strip, and the bulk of the cables and wires, can be kept below what has now become a lifted wire mesh platform inside the case, and the rpis can sit on top of that, nicely ventilated. the case fits neatly on the lower shelf (it slides out!) of the wooden video gear case we built, to the left of the little midi controllers. AND, i can easily unplug the rpi case power strip from the power supply inside the larger case, when i want to play with the rpis on-the-go. i'm writing this rather early today (mid-afternoon), because i'm so wrapped up with the case-wiring project, and i want to spend sometime in the sunshine today, and we're planning to make the hour and a half drive to the nearest city this evening to attend a show that a friend of e's is putting on.
