IBM installs punched card equipment to support administration of the U.S. Social 
Security Act of 1935, which required the creation and maintenance of employment 
records on 26 million Americans. This landmark government contract was called "the 
biggest accounting operation of all time."

The Fingerprint Selecting Sorter and the Traffic Recorder are released.
