Well, I'm not in the college grindstone for now, and I'm back with family again for the time being. Picked up a remote contract thing the university was offering, but hadn't done much with that yet. Anyways... it's June. Pride Month, as the terminally online call it. Call me old-fashioned, but I don't mind the lack of any real push for it this year. Yeah, the Twitter gimmick accounts are annoying about it as always, but this is also Twitter we're talking about. It was never good to begin with, and the only thing really keeping me from ditching it is that Bsky.social is far, FAR worse. I do have an outpost over there, but I firmly keep it as a "here's the Doom-related stuff I've been doing for people too afraid of Twitter" account; I've no plans to properly immerse myself in whatever hysterical, fearmongering bullshite that gilded hugbox wants me to deal with this week. Yeah, New Twitter isn't much better, with all the groypers running helter-skleter and insisitng that everything from the toaster not working, to why you're late to work, or hell even why that cloud looked at you funny is really the insidious work of The Massive Jewish Conspiracy; Where somehow Da JoOoOoOs run literally everything ever, are ridiculously stealthy as to somehow be invisibly dangling the strings on literally every single world event (including from BEFORE Judaism was even a thing), but somehow incompetent oafs such that they leave ridiculous amounts of detials lying around the floor for the groypers to conveniently find. How? Well, the Bible, of course! Gotta be a verse you can mold into a reason somewhere in there. At least most of the crazy cancels itself out on Twitter; On Bsky, there's nothing stopping the userbase from carpet-bombing your sorry ass over one tiny disagreement. It could be something as ridiculous as "I think this MxM ship is better than this other MxM ship", and I'm still fairly certain site administration would kick your sorry ass out the door. One-way street bull, I tell's you. And I think this brings us (or, me, since who actually reads this crap) to my main ventpost of the week, which I will keep insiiting is not the blogging equivalent of a turd on a plate: I don't really care for Pride Month. For me, it's pretty much a synonym for Preformative Activism. It's not as bad as it used to be nowadays though, at least the worst of it only comes on the first day and tail end of June. Back in 2020, almost every single brand, group, collective, or sufficiently annoying person you knew would make a mad dash to see who could slather themselves in the most pride flags. It was honestly kind of a sad, pathetic sight to see almost every single corpo drop their pants and lash themselves across the ass over and over again just for the slim chance of the modern LGBT community's approval. Not that I feel too bad for them, mind; If you really wanna try selling to people who'll throw you in the garbage no matter what you do, I'm not gonna stop 'ya. And you really have to wonder about the content creators who participate in that sort of stuff, or pray they're not gonna be the next ones on the chopping block. Gooseworx was already thrown under the bus this year, what's not to say the current Approved Creators like Bunlith, Vizziepop, or Xpolshi could end up like that at some point? I hope they don't get harassed off the internet, I really don't, but if the people they choose to keep around are trigger happy to the point of considering scorched earth policy to be a normal Tuesday... well, I hope they know how to properly placate them. But at least Pride Month isn't too bad this year. Maybe a few eyerollers here and there, maybe someone trying to desperately make their headcanon reality, or maybe an art collective or two jerking themselves off over how moral they are for choosing to worship the ground Pride Month walks under. But like 2025, it's probably not gonna be any worse on Twitter than the website usually is this year. I don't mind it. As for some of you... if you really wanna celebreate it so bad, I don't plan to stop you. I ain't gonna give a damn if you choose to dress up like a drunk peacock or flaunt how much of a Good Person you are for choosing to slog yourself through fifteen hundred pride parades. What do I care for? It's your life. I'm only gonna give a hoot if you insisit that I have a hundred moral deficiencies and a half for choosing not to engage with Pride Month.
