I can make you feel a little better: I look at it this way: He probably lived for MANY decades longer than he might have, if he didn't fight it successfully for so many years. In other words, he could have committed suicide at a young age, but he didn't. He fought hard. In the process, he made a lot of people happy. He did the best he could - and he did a lot.^
