I've actually never made it through all of the tolkein books
   *or* the movie adaptations (not even the 70s cartoon version),
   although I loved The Hobbit book - and I know all of the stories
   just through listening to people. (same as The Hunger Games. I
   know the story even though I neither read it nor saw the movies;
   I just happened to know a lot of people who were obsessed by
   it)."
