excellent point - you think that right above where the pipe
   enters the seafloor they'd have a series of shutoff valves.
   (they'd need a few in a row in case one or two of them fail
   because of saltwater rot - redundancy is good in stuff like this
   - its a backup plan if the first plan fails) - but THEY HAD NO
