I think if 12/21/12 gets some people to become BETTER people
   because of concerns of the afterlife, or at least the
   post-apocolyptic earth, then it can be a good thing. But I worry
   about what people in groups or individuals might do to make SURE
   that SOMETHING happens on 12/21/12 - just to prove the point. A
   guy who wants to show his family "See, I was right about the end
   of the world", or a group... of friends feeding off of each
   others paranoia get to the point of saying "We'll show them" -
   Happened in Columbine, Happened at 9-11 - same need to prove
   something. "
