[but most of my imaginations about what might 'really' happen are kind of boring and nerdy.* Like, "Someday music will be on a chip" (I pictured a game cartridge the side of your pinky-nail] - and that was in the mid 80s when I was a teenager.* Well, apparently I wasn't the only one with that idea 'cause SD and micro-SD are here. Or smartphones.* In 6th grade, I remember talking about the idea.* Not as phones, but just we'd be connected to every library in the world, be able to talk to each other on things that fit in our pocket, write on it, get music, watch TV and have access to everything that ever was made by humans on there, whole societies would form on it... I'm still waiting for devices that let people shake hands via computer... and for smells to be transferred over... there's a few things that aren't true yet... foldable screens like newspapers that are just as cheap... etc yeah.. anyway..* Internet and smartphones.. .and, I didn't even have to do a thing except... be here. :P ] My predictions are exciting to me, but they're usually just doable things, stuff that I'd make myself if I had access to the materials and technology to experiment with] [1][IMG] [2]KENNETH UDUT 9:29 PM Like here's a simple idea: something akin to a microphone or fan that you blow into but it measures wind velocity, direction, etc. On the other end, a person has a device like a fan that blows out the air at the same temperature, velocity, direction, etc. I don't know what it would be used for, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't happen.* I have simple ideas. Transmitting textures is another one.* We have pixels on a screen.* But I think I should be able to put my hand in a cotton-like cloth of a sort with pressure sensitivity weaved in that has very fine resolution and can transmit subtle 3D textures.* Of course it would be used for naughty things - that's the 'net -* but I'm not thinking of that stuff - just transmitting textures.* Like put it on your head and the receiver on the other end, could feel hair.* Or a grandmother that lives far away could touch their grandbaby's face.* Stuff like that. Or place it on an object like woodgrain on pirate ship and on the other end, you could feel what the wood grain feels like. It's just I don't see any reason why it shouldn't exist.* We can do it in real life; our fingers and hands feel textures; like I can feel the texture of the keyboard as I type - we have the bandwidth but maybe the technology isn't ready yet - maybe it is, I dunno.
