A lot of the creative process doesn't require conscious rationalization. Sometimes it's good to be skeptical of rational thought, simply because of the lag time in the brain. We experience "what just happened" a moment ago with "what we expected to happen" a moment before that, compare the two and then come up with a story to explain it that sounds plausable. That's how the brain functions. Reason is storytelling. But it's useful storytelling that I'm a fan of.
