why? 'cause you can do what you want 'cause a Pirate is Free... The people who write children's programming are rebellious adults who work in an uncommon profession and they encourage children to be themselves, be rebellious, don't let anyone tell you what to do, etc. The writers know they have the kids' undivided attention and the parents aren't there watching with them.* I believe most of the writers are social anarchists... whether its Japanese anime or american children's TV Pirates are a safe way to represent freedom from authority, friendship etc.
