You know that's actually a great idea.* A really great one.* Back in (here comes Ken story) 2000, I had to scan through surveys of 25,000 "free text" responses to how their contact with a sales rep made them feel (it salesppl for a drug - Claritin). I whipped up something in Excel's VBA ('cause it's all I had available) and put together keywords, misspellings of keywords and versions of common things people would say in the 150-characters-or-less they had to type in.* Took a few days but it was able to scan free text and spit out "moods" into 5 categories ('cause that's what my boss wanted). So I know it's possible.* Google scans email for contextual advertising; everything's more and more advanced and the code is "out there" somewhere for someone else to grab and use. But... then snapchat would have to admit they keep your data and use it and go through your stuff.* They already do ('cause they're on servers) but then they'd have to admit it.* Wait - no - no - they wouldn't have to admit me.* People would just accept that snapchat knows.* hah - yeah they could do it. The suddenly ignoring someone would be a very easy algorithm for them to do.* Calculate frequency of contact with this individual over time, frequency of contact with others over the same period of time, then compare the two.* If someone's contact frequency is lower than the contact frequency of the others, then they're probably being ignored/neglected and might be feeling lonely in response. Of course it would a two-way algorithm because they'd need to weed out people who seem to not be using the service as much these days compared to before. But yeah - it's a great idea, and I think ppl would love it. I rant about snapchat but it's really just another way to connect to ppl.* I'm for every which way that people can connect online, and snapchat is as good as any.* They're easy to pick on because they're popular but they're popular for a reason; people like it.* I like the drawing feature myself; I'd give myself fake glasses or whatever :P and fast and you don't have to worry about deleting the message. [even if it's a 'fake delete' - it's still something - no history clearing or anything required].* So, it's a good service.* I shouldn't be so critical.
