Joey's being accurate. I love the back and forth here. I tend to prefer dry showers when possible. I didn't like showers at his age (I've heard most boys don't - I just know me, although I remember my nephew and his mom's epic shower battles for a few years before he _apparently_ consented) - and still don't, although in my case I think I just have hypersensitive nerves. Yet, I never smell. Found a talc or cornstarch (whatever) that suits me. It gets the sweat off. [and in Florida with my laptop on the screened porch, I'm semi-outside as much as possible and sweat]. The powder gets off the sweat. But I soap-water wash parts that need washing, either dirty (feet, legs, back of ears and arms), or the parts that produce the smellier oils (TMI, armpit, chest, neck) Hair gets dry-wash most of the time (lots of brushing to get the white powder out), and sometimes gets the regular shampoo thing or I use one of those products made for Astronauts [and invalids and campers] - the "No Rinse Shampoo / Body Wash. It has _just the right chemicals to get rid of _exactly_ the stuff we want off the body - the dirt and the oils without needing much water] Would just taking a shower simplify it? Sure. But ever since a kid, I found the nerves tingling was a maddening sensation after the shower was done, downright stir-crazy sensation that lasts for a 1/2 hr or so - so awful that I'd have get away from people (go for a walk, disappear to my room) Unpleasant experience. So through the years, starting at camping trips around age 8 all through to today, I'd find alternative means to stay clean and fresh. [last time I 'got away' with not taking a shower at all was at a long camping trip in one of those community shower things. I went through all the motions, stripped, turned shower on, closed curtain. I stood there for a couple of minutes, came out and got dressed. Such a clever boy was I. I figured the steam would be enough. But nope. I didn't know my Uncle was sent to spy on me by my mother and his job was to time my shower, see if my hair was wet. He reported back to her, and I was caught! Back I went., timed. I got rid of that "nerve- tingling" feeling by going to the playground, running around and getting dirty again. Problem solved! I got the clean she wanted and the dirty I wanted ] In community shower situations such as sports or camping, I'd do it without complaint or hesitation but afterwards I'd find a strenuous activity to distract me from the sensation. Running, playing basketball, riding a bike, chopping wood, whatever. At home,, I'd use alternative means to showering whenever possible and just wet my hair afterwards to pass the "wet hair" test. Anyway, good luck with Joey. Definite lawyer capabilities there. After writing all of this, i *think* I just acted on behalf of the defendant! Just call me Perry Mason]
