Oh there's nothing wrong with preparedness.* I was a boy scout and we deal with hurricanes now that I'm in Florida so we do preparations every year. We've dealt with a few hurricanes so that preparation was very practical and useful. I don't know about the cannibalizing.* It's possible of course. Right now we have no water.* The water pump pressure switch had smoke pouring out of it and that NASTY burning wires smell. I unplugged it, looked at it, connector thing is finally shot. So, I had to inform 12 unhappy people, "No water 'til tomorrow". We weren't fully prepared but there was enough water for me to have coffee tonight.* and enough for tomorrow.* So, I don't really think about cannibals much, but living in the sticks we have to be prepared for many things. Some of us took disaster preparedness and I was a member of C.E.R.T. for a few years (Community Emergency Response Team), CPR, Tornado Tracking, marking disaster areas and dead bodies properly, basic triage, etc. It's good stuff to know.
