There's not much that can be done really though. The whole
   *idea* of romance: the girl being swept "off her feet", "madly
   in love".. Madness.

   Madness. "Crazy about you". I mean it's right there in how we
   talk about romance and we don't even make the connection about
   its danger when taken too far.

   Thankfully, _most_ people are reasonable enough and don't fall
   into abusive patterns.

   Being broken by love; the wounded warrior of love... wearing
   scars proudly. It's part of our culture.

   Men proudly bear the scars of war. Women proudly bear the scars
   of love.

   Oh well. I just don't like seeing people get hurt.
