It's funny, I suppose I use algebra in programming, but I just
   consider it variables and constants. I never liked the 'way'
   formulas are compressed in mathematics, although oddly enough I
   like Microsoft Excel's syntax quite a bit, probably 'cause it's
   my scratchpad.
