pay? What's that? :P* hehe - all legit - I had a VMWare from a
   couple of years ago collecting dust on my HD when I was
   experimenting with creating a "Minecraft Operating System", so
   everything was there.* I just had to find a Linux flavor to go
   with.* I ended up going with FreeBSD instead of Linux because it
   is the closest relative to the Unix I mostly forgot how to use
   and it was a tiny download. [I didn't feel like waiting] and
   then I dove right in. I even locked myself into it for an hour
   straight in the beginning, just poking around, using man pages
   to remind myself what the cryptic 2 letter commands did 'c'ause
   I forgot... and got as far as I could without resorting to going
   online for help, which I only used when I had to.* It was fun :)
