I like being a "know-it-all" and I'm ok with the drawbacks. I read a book when i was 10-11 years old. It was one of those "how to be a man" books for boys or something. It was cute and cartoony and showed various bad habits one ought to break. For the know-it-all, it showed a drawing of a boy with his mouth open as he was talking, and flies were going in and out of it, and people were yawning. I recognized myself in the description and, after a brief discomfort / awkwardness / cognitive dissonance over it, I thought, "Well, I like me and find myself interesting. So if my audience doesn't, that just means I have the wrong audience, don't I?" Helped me ever since. The book was likely correct and I accepted its platitudes as "close enough to true". smile emoticon
