Making people aware of their fundamental lack of privacy is important. it is also important to try to keep the illusionary privacy going as long as possible. All it takes is a single excuse for our civic expectations to come crashing down. They're mythological, based upon changeable laws with enough loopholes to drive a Bill Cosby through. Still, it's the game they set up. The illusion of privacy is cracking. Facebook is supposed to be playing this game as well and keep the wall up as well, but they're not. The trouble with corporations is the only ethics for corporations are lawsuits. They only "do right" so they don't get sued. It's the flaw of corporations being treated "as people". No ethics required except those proscribed by law. The only way to make a company feel guilty is to call them on their mistakes. The only way to call them on their mistakes is through embarassment which = fear of lawsuit in corporate world. If they persist in the error, the only way to punish them isn't to make them sit in a corner and think about what they've done, but rather to sue. Such is the system as it is currently set up. I'm glad you're letting people know about Facebook's naughtiness. They really ought to be ashamed of themselves, otherwise they will get sued by somebody.
